Insurance / FAQ

Before Requesting an Appointment at Palmetto Counseling: verify with your insurance that our practice is considered In-Network with your insurance plan. If your plan requires a referral prior to seeing a specialist, contact your primary care physician so that you have the referral in hand at the time of your visit. Please notify our office at least 24 hours prior to your appointment in the event your insurance information changes.

First Appointment: Please arrive at least 30 minutes early for your first appointment so that all paperwork may be completed before seeing your therapist. Please bring current insurance card(s), valid picture identification / valid driver's license, completed online forms, and co-pays with you and let us know if any of your contact information has changed [e.g., phone number, current address, emergency contact information, etc.]

Payment: co-pays, deductibles or any non-covered services will be required at the time of service. For your convenience, we accept CASH, CHECKS, MASTERCARD, VISA, DISCOVER, AMERICAN EXPRESS AND DEBIT.

Missed Appointment / Late Cancellation Policy: Due to a significant increase in the volume of "No-Show" appointments and rising trend of non-payments of outstanding accounts, you may be charged a $30 administrative fee for No Show or appointment cancelled without providing 24 hours advanced notice. This fee is non-refundable and is not covered by your insurance or EAP.

Out-Of-Network Insurance Plans: if you have insurance that our practice does not accept or is considered out-of-network, we can provide you with a receipt for clinical services rendered that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Where Is Your Office Located?

Palmetto Counseling & Consulting Services, LLC is located on 1721 Ebenezer Road, Suite #225, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Our office is conveniently located in Village Oaks Professional Park; which is located near Piedmont Hospital, Rite Aid Pharmacy, and Hardees off Herlong Avenue. 

 What Are Your Hours?

Sessions are by appointment only. Evening and Saturday appointments are available.

 How Much Will My Insurance Cover?

Before requesting an appointment, please contact your insurance company to verify with your insurance that our practice is considered "In-Network" with your insurance plan. If your insurance requires a referral prior to seeing a Specialist, please contact your Primary Care Physician so that you have the referral in hand at the time of your visit.

 As a courtesy [and with your permission], Palmetto Counseling can contact your insurance company to verify benefits for outpatient behavioral healthcare services to determine your co-pay, co-insurance, and the amount of your deductible that must be met before insurance will reimburse for treatment services provided. 

 We strongly advise that you also contact your insurance company to verify your benefits. If your claim is denied by your insurance company, client will be responsible for the full amount of all professional fees and charges for services provided.

 Does Insurance Cover Marriage or Couples Counseling? 

Unfortunately, Marriage or Couples Counseling is considered non-medical / non-clinical and is not covered by Major Insurance Plans. 

Why Does Your Practice Charge A No Show Fee?

Please be mindful that your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you and be considerate of others - if you miss your appointment or cancel at the last minute, we will be unable to provide care for another client in your place, and have no way of recovering lost revenue due to "no-shows" or last-minute cancellations. 

 Therefore, it is our policy that clients provide us 24 hour advanced notice if you need to change or cancel your appointment. You may be charged a $30 administrative fee for No Show or appointment cancelled without providing 24 hours advanced notice.

 Can A Clinical Social Worker or A Licensed Professional Counselor Prescribe Medication?

No. However, we may recommend that you receive a medication evaluation from your doctor / psychiatrist / or primary care physician. There are certain mental health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, mood disorders and other mental health conditions that are better treated with counseling and medication therapy, than just counseling alone.
